El Durazno Farm
El Durazno Farm is located in the Los Planes, El Izotal community of La Palma, Chalatenango Department, in northern El Salvador, bordering Honduras. El Durazno Farm reaches an altitude of 1900m. The current owner, Mr. Jaime, had previously produced coffee in mid-altitude areas, but in 2015, with the aim of improving quality, he started this farm to challenge himself with coffee production at high altitudes. The farm was named Durazno (peach) because there are peach trees on the property.
The farm consists of four sections, with Pacamara and Geisha cultivated in two high-altitude sections reaching 1900m. Due to the microclimate differing from mid-altitudes, the coffee harvest season starts later than in other regions, beginning in mid-February and continuing until the end of April.
