Karindundu Factory
The Karindundu Factory is located between Mount Kenya to the northeast and the Aberdare Range to the west, benefiting from fertile volcanic red soil. Its bright acidity, body, and cassis-like flavor are highly praised.
Currently, 520 producers from five surrounding villages utilize the Karindundu Factory. Coffee cherries, carefully hand-picked one by one, are pulped, washed, and dried at this factory.
The water source for pulping comes from the nearby Tagati River, pumped using an electric pump with a recyclable system. Washing is carried out in four pulpers and five soaking pools.
In addition to coffee, local farmers also cultivate tea, corn, bananas, and horticultural plants. They grow coffee using eucalyptus and macadamia trees as shade trees. The main harvest season is from October to January. Each farmer carefully hand-picks the cherries from their approximately 200 coffee trees, judging their ripeness, and brings them to the factory.
